HISTORICAL

The major historical attractions in Ethiopia are located at Axum, Lalibela and Gondar. These are historic places where past Ethiopian civilizations, government bases and very peculiar church architectures are preserved and shown. These places can be reached both by local flights or vehicles. In addition to these attractions, Glory Ethiopia organizes tours through the historic North or Separate Trekking itinerary and/or to the rock Hewn Churches around Tigray.

NATURAL

The Natural attraction of Ethiopia are as numerous as historical and cultural ones. The first pecuilar destinaiton is the tribal areas, to which we organize safaries to the south east south and south west ethiopia.

The second natural attraction and tourist seestinaitons are trekking on semen mointains, Bahirdar together with island monasteries of Lake tana and the Blue Nile falls.

In the east and south east HARAR city wall, Bale Mountains National park, Sof Omar cave and The caves of Sof Omar are important destinaitons. Also the Ethiopian Rift Valley, The Lakes District, and Active volcano Danakil and Erta' Ale are equally intruging tourist attractions.

Bird watching - Ethiopia has extreme topographic variation, ecological diversity and proximately to the equator. These factors provide great habitat diversity that supports one of the richest Bird lives in Africa. There are more than 820 species and 16 endemic Birds registered by urban and brown checklist of the Birds of Ethiopia published in 1971. Ethiopians major significance as a Birding destination is the high profile among Birdwatchers that most specious are endemic or near endemic in Africa.

CULTURAL

The cultural attractions in Ethiopia include pilgrimage and festivals as well as safari to tribal areas like the Mursi, Karo, Benna, Bume Or Nyangatom, Erbore. The Lower Omo valley within an area of 15, 000 sq kms has 10 different languages (excluding the dialects), forming the largest assortment of ethnic groups in Ethiopia and possibly in the whole of Africa.

Religion has an important role in the Ethiopian society, festivals and ceremonies provide many high points in the calendar; only the Ethiopian Orthodox church celebrates not less than 150 major and minor festivities per year. Religious pilgrimages in Ethiopia constitute an essentially unrecorded mass movement of domestic tourists that attract the attentions of most visitors from abroad.

The most famous pilgrimages are; Timket in mid January, Genna in early January, Meskel in late September and Easter in late April are colorful and remarkable mass ceremonies; celebrated at most corners of the country. Hidar Tsion in Axum at the end of November, and Kulubi Gabreil near Harar in December and July, also attracts more than 100,000 participants, most of who will come on foot.
